Lead architect at CitizenLab
As the tech lead of our Platform squad, your main responsibility is to guide CitizenLab through making optimal high-level technical choices. The platform squad is a horizontal, engineering-focused team that maintains and improves the foundations of our platform. It serves the other feature squads as well as outside contributors on our open-source version. Its mission is to technically facilitate others, internal and external, to grow CitizenLab.
Your main responsibilities include:
Define a technical roadmap, taking ownership over the horizontal non-functional aspects of our product: security, privacy, compliance, performance, and durability.
Deliver on the roadmap with the engineers in the platform squad (DevOps, Back-end, and Support) and follow up on day-to-day work.
Proactively communicate technical direction to the different squads and collaborate with the Tech Leads and CTO to anticipate future challenges.
Lead the way in working out our architecture to continue our transition from a web app to an extendable platform.
Educate engineers across the whole engineering team on technical aspects.
Take initiative to facilitate open-source contributions by providing a better developer experience through improved setup and documentation.
As our Platform Squad tech lead you can demonstrate:
Relevant experience in scaling production-grade SaaS software in a technical leadership role.
Experience in Ruby on Rails.
Experience with other technologies we use is a plus: Typescript & React, Elixir and Python.
A leadership style that naturally includes others in the decision process and fosters discussion across the whole engineering team.
Affinity with compliance on privacy and security matters is a big plus.
The ability to relocate to Brussels is a plus.
Experience leading open-source software projects is a big plus.
