As a Business Development Representative, you will seek new business opportunities for CitizenLab in the United States by reaching out to governments and developing relationships with potential customers. Gather contact data and reach out to officials using email and cold calling techniques;
Lead discovery calls to create new opportunities and hand them over to our team of US Business Developers;
Develop technical know-how of the product and help answer questions from prospective clients;
Test and develop outreach methods, analyze what worked and what didn't, and re-iterate to reach success from there;
Contribute to the continuous development of our sales playbook.
What do we expect from you?
You hold a business degree and/or have 1-2 years work experience in a marketing or sales position. Experience with SaaS selling and lead generation techniques such as cold calling is a big plus.

You are based in the United States (East or West Coast).
Enthusiasm, humor, empathy, and the ability to convey this through phone, email, and in-person communication.
Organizational skills. You know how to manage timelines, coordinate projects, and get stakeholders involved. You are tech-savvy and enjoy working with digital tools to boost your productivity.

Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
You are fluent in English (written and spoken).
Hungry to learn. We invest heavily in making each other better.
Most importantly: you can demonstrate a big appetite to improve the functioning of our democracies and the efficiency of public services!
An eagerness to learn, talent, and enthusiasm are more important than ticking all the boxes. If you don’t meet all of the listed requirements but are motivated and excited about the role, we want to hear from you!
